City close to hiring new ambulance chief

Mayor Bill Koos said that the city is close to hiring a new chief for the ambulance squad at the Monday night meeting of the city council.  The city has been interviewing prospective candidates this past month and an announcement will be made within the new week or so according to Koos.

There were no items on the city council agenda.   Alderman Sean Cunningham announced that the Finance Committee will meet on Thursday January 12, 2006 at 4 p.m. to start the budget process.

Alderman Jason Buchanan announced that the EDC will have a joint meeting with the Finance Committee on Tuesday January 10, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. The racetrack developers will be here to give an update on their development.

City Administrator Comments

1. The ambulance squad has started to paint in the council chambers and they have started with the ceiling tiles. They would like to get as many people as possible to come and paint on Saturday.

2. Charlie McGuire and I will be giving our depositions on Wednesday January 4, 2006 at Eureka regarding the Com Ed claim.

3. Appreciation dinner on Friday January 20, 2006 at La Vons is all set and invitations have been sent.

Mayor's Comments

1. Thanked Alderman Buchanan (Mayor Pro- Tem) for taking over at the last meeting in his absence.

2. Would like to encourage everyone to attend the city's appreciation dinner.

3. Announced to all Council members that there is a letter from the Motel 6 owners and that the subject will be on the agenda at the next council meeting.
