News Subject: City Clean Up days announced for April 26-27 - 03/17/2008 -

I am wondering since mayor koos thanked those due thanks does this mean he hired a city manager, or will he start recieving pay for the job?
News Subject: City Approves TIF Funding for Local Business - 04/13/2008 -

I am glad Mr Cunningham has better things in mind for the dog catcher cash. I am sure everyone is relieved that the police and city hall parking lot will soak up 12,ooo dollars, we will all get alot of use out of that! How about these people in charge get a reality check. Why not ask for opinion polls on what street repairs should get priority instead of just approving funds for un-needed parking lot repair. I think there is some common sense missing in our mayors way of decision making.
News Subject: City wide cleanup days changed to April 29-30 - 04/14/2008 -

Maybe my math is fuzzy but lets say I produce 75lb. of trash a week times four weeks= 300lb. My bill goes up about $3.50. Tomlinsons fee per 2000lbs goes up $4.50, even considering fuel costs something is not adding up. Am I the only one who wonders if we are being taken advantage by someone?
News Subject: City Council meeting cancelled due to a lack of a quorum - 04/21/2008 -

I may be wrong but could the mayor be going it alone. He must be acting like the decider. Mayor Koos lectured Fieldcrest about not following the democratic process, perhaps he needs to look in the mirror.
News Subject: City approves deficit budget - 05/01/2008 -

I guess I am the only one concerned that we are spending more than we make. That kind of money management is a great example of this mayors lack of common sense.  Does anyone know if we are still paying our former administrater and police chief? Neither position has yet been filled ,properly.
News Subject: Recycling Bin set up behind City Hall - 05/12/2008 -

Just wanted to say Good job on the recycle bin, I think its going to help recycling efforts in town.
News Subject: City replaces curb side recyling with central recycling bin - 05/11/2008 -

Does anyone care that Koos brought in a lawyer to explain hiring procedure, was this necessary? What did it cost us taxpayers? I sure hope the council hires someone with some common sense who will not just be Koos "yes" man.
News Subject: City starts legal proceeding against violator of zoning law - 06/09/2008 -

I think our city "leaders" should have thanked David before he got burnt out! Maybe even offered money instead of him having to request it, these people are not thoughtfull. I am dissappointed in the lack of appreciation given to Mr. Uphoff, right up to the end ,thanking him then asking what the $2000 is for. I am sure the "leaders" will find an exspensive solution to the lack of a good website now.
News Subject: Koos re-elected Mayor - 04/07/2009 -

Hi I think what dogwatcher means is that very few people know what is really happening in this town.
News Subject: City hires legal counsel to address location of wind farm turbines - 07/27/2009 -

I am confused by all of the words used by the mayor and administrater. As far as I know when a property is foreclosed on it is typically sold soon after to an investor who buys title insurance to assure all Liens(like the ones our leaders seem unwilling to file)are cleared up and paid for, so why not file one and get paid!!! If I am wrong please straighten me out on this.
Just an idea but doesnt the city still have an option to purchase 640 acres north of town. I say buy it and quit messing around, any of the local farmers would love to buy it for what the city was offered it for.  Perhaps we could then bring in about 20 windmills that could make the payment on the farm ground and the Mayor could spend the cashrent money from the tenant farmer on lawyers and other things he see's fit.
Does anyone else think that the land the city owns and mows accross from woodys should have a for sale sign?
News Subject: Mural to be painted on wall of Pop's Sweet Shop - 08/07/2009 -

Say what you want but these Tjadens get it done! I think it will be neat!
News Subject: City Council approves no parking restrictions - 08/17/2009 -

Laws are only as good as those who enforce them, Wiggins and his posse will see to it that no one is parked wrong. even if its at church. We have the man power and police car fleet to control crime in a town twice our size so I would obey any parking restrictions they deem applicable at any time or place.
News Subject: City to exercise option to purchase Section 6 - 09/08/2009 -

I hope the mayor is aware of the current state of most peoples finances and is just playing dumb with this talk of developers. Lets get real the only thing going around here is subsidized farming. The business that we have are open only by a thread due to the economy and our present leadership or lack of in DC. I say buy it on the cheap break it up into affordable parcels for the small farmers and let them go after it!!! Is anyone aware of the land the city owns already by I-39 that does not even have a for sale sign !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe the new city manager will address this soon
Council Subject: City Opens Two Bids For Section 6 - 01/18/2010 -

I am wondering why we are not breaking the 500+ acres into plots that local farmers would be able to bid on. Could we split it into fourths? I would like to hear from those older or younger and wiser why or why not do it this way.
Minonk has done a good job getting approval to destroy the empty houses.
Does anyone know if in fact we will be refunded our overpayment of prop. taxes last year?
